Profiling or self-preservation?
All Muslims are not terrorists, however, the world's terrorists are all Muslim. This is a self-admitted fact.
Profiling is done on a daily basis in advertising, yet it is a dirty word in the fight against terrorism. It makes no sense to pull an 80 year old grandmother out of line at the airport and all but strip search her while letting a young man of Middle Eastern descent pass through unquestioned, all because of the concern over "fairness".
Guess what - the attack on the USS Cole wasn't fair, 9/11 wasn't fair, the Russian school tragedy wasn't fair. Nothing about these bastards is fair - why are we concerned over someone's inconvenience at an airport?
While it is important to remember that not all Muslims are terrorists (see the start of this post) and that we live in a country where you are innocent until proven guilty...I believe we should adopt another catchphrase - suspicious until proven trustworthy - not guilty, but suspicious. If forty-something, fat, white mothers were committing heinous crimes, I would expect to be looked at with suspicion!

I agree that we should be cautious. We have a 3 day waiting period and supposedly a background check before a U.S. Citizen can purchase a handgun, what would it hurt to expect the same from foreigners coming to our country?
Branda has a good point. I dpn't no what the answer is but we better be for finding one!
Jen - love the post! I agree completely.
In all fairness, I should say that I HATE to fly and have avoided it for several years now (since about 1999). But especially now, you are right about the 40-something overweight mom thing - THAT would be ME!! How embarrassing - I know I probably look like I could wrestle my way to the cockpit and threaten the pilot with the sharp end of a lip liner and hijack the plane to Timbuktu, right? riiiiiight....
I say don't let ANYONE of foreign origin (anyone not a citizen born in the US) fly without a second glance at them. Nothing personal, really, but then again, I sort of took the terrorist attacks on 9/11 personally, so why not be personal about it????
